Sharing Your Inspiration

Due to technology it has become convenient to share ideas and concepts. From home decor to hairstyles to new makeup trends. It’s all at your fingertips! You may be wondering how you share what your idea or concept is with a photographer? How do I get my idea across? What if I don’t look like the person in the picture? These are all great questions! How do I share my ideas or concepts with you? We found Pinterest to be a great place to start. First thing first: open Pinterest. Simple enough right? Next is the hard part… Don’t start scrolling and loving all the pictures! We are on a mission: make a Boudoir board with ideas for lighting, posing, and outfits! At the bottom of the screen you will see a “+” in the middle of the menu. It will prompt you to create something - so let’s create a board! Now to name your board: a good suggestion is “Your Name + Boudoir”. Underneath the name you’ll see a way to add collaborators. You want to add us to the board, that way we can see what you see! Search for @elegant_life, and it will show our name in a pink bubble with our company name in gold. After selecting us as a collaborator, it is up to you to keep it private or make it public. Don’t worry, since we are a collaborator, no matter what setting you put it on we will still be able to see your pins. Time to start pinning! If you have a theme in mind you can search directly for that. If you are looking for a bit more inspiration check out our Pinterest page and pull directly from there. If you haven’t booked a shoot and are just looking, type in boudoir photoshoots into the search bar and enjoy - then call us to schedule a consultation because you will be absolutely hooked after a few pins. I know I was. How do I get my ideas across? Most of us have Pinterest boards, but these boards are seen more as inspirational boards. Are we looking for a perfect ”this is the exact picture I want” no (however, if that happens, that is amazing!) It’s to show what inspires you. What are your tastes; what do you favor? Are you a bold color and costume character, or are you a black and white film noir star? Your pins can help us understand that and move in the right direction. Be sure to add pins where you like the lighting, the pose, the feel. Which brings us to the next question… What if I don’t look like the person in the picture? Well, that is the beauty of it. Our expertise working with different body types assists in making the pose you love so much work for you, not against you. You are beautiful in your uniqueness! Give yourself grace and love to be yourself.

Our Boudoir Philosophy

In 18th century France, boudoir referred to a woman’s private dressing room. It was a sensual and romantic experience to depict the private rooms of a woman - this usually would include the dressing room and the bedroom. However, as times have changed so has the intent and philosophy behind boudoir. We believe that boudoir is an empowering experience to raise self confidence and showcase the beauty that you typically don’t see when you look in the mirror. It is a memory and experience that makes you feel like your most beautiful self, and the product shows you what you may not always see when you look in the mirror. We strive to provide a unique and self loving experience that will leave you feeling beautiful; an experience every person deserves. As a woman, whenever we look in the mirror we can see our beautiful locks of curling hair flowing gently over our collarbones, our eyes bright with wonder and mischief, a smile that could steal a million hearts… Well, that is what we should see. Instead, we critique with pen and paper our uniqueness - eyes are too big, wrinkles too deep, hair too short, too curly, too dull, and we have trouble seeing the beauty that lies there naturally. Boudoir is a way for us to put away our pens and just appreciate ourselves for what we are - naturally magnificent. Our philosophy of boudoir focuses on empowering, showcasing, and crafting an experience that allows you the opportunity to see past the self criticisms to the absolutely wonderful creature you are. We believe that everyone is deserving of this self love, and we look forward to seeing you soon for this unique and incredible experience.

Stay Calm and Healthy….

Hello Beauties! WOW what a week! I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how much our world has changed in just a weeks’ time but understand the necessity. That being said…be assured that Scott and I, and Elegant Life Boudoir, are not going anywhere and will be here to make your photo dreams come true. In the meantime, we are spending time reconnecting with family and friends, helping our neighbors and planning some amazing poses and lighting techniques for you to experience during your photo sessions with us. Also, I will be posting LOTS inspiration on our page in the coming weeks. We hope that these images INSPIRE you and that you will begin imaging the possibilities for your photos. Stay healthy and safe sweet friends and be on the lookout for some cool images, maybe a contest or two, and possibly some photo session specials. And don’t forget to shop small and support your local businesses especially during this time. Love and hugs, Donna

What happens during a boudoir shoot?

Everything! We start by giving you a complimentary makeover. Hair and makeup application are included as part of our service and we style you so you look GORGEOUS. Then, you put on your first outfit and we get shooting. We will walk you through each pose and add just the right lighting for the style you chose. After the first outfit, we take a little break, have a small snack and just take some time to get to know each other better then move on to the next outfit. We will do three or four outfits at each session and have these great breaks in between. Total time for the session is usually about four hours. One hour of prep (hair and makeup) and three hours of shooting, laughter and fun. By the end of the day, our clients feel like family. After all the shooting and snacking is done, we will wrap up and help you get everything ready to go. It’s a fabulous day!
